Crawford M. Roddy, 85, a resident of East Fishkill since 1974 and formerly of Beacon, died on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side.
Born in Kinston, NC on February 28, 1928, he was the son of James P. and Estelle Memory Roddy. He proudly served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. Crawford was employed by Genesco Company in Nashville, TN for 36 years until his retirement in 1984 as the store manager.
Crawford was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church and the American Legion. He was an avid sports fan especially the Boston Red Sox and New York Giants. He loved country music, dogs and southern cooking – especially his wife's homemade fried chicken.
On April 18, 1960 in Baltimore, MD, Crawford married Norma Colonna who survives at home. He is also survived by his son Vincent P. Roddy and his wife Adelina of East Fishkill; his daughter, Linda Knezovich and her husband Robert of Roanoke, VA; his sister, Coleen McPike of Palmyra; 2 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Weathers.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Mast officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Hopewell Cemetery.
