Cynthia Rose Powell, 79, of Miami, FL and formerly of Fishkill, died on September 2, 2021 at South Miami Hospital.
Born in Blue Mountain District, Manchester, Jamaica on July 12, 1942, she was the daughter of Sidney and Gwendolyn Davy, and the adopted daughter of Ivy and John Walters. Cynthia had been employed as a Registered Nurse.
Cynthia was a devoted member of the Church of the Nazarene in Fishkill and volunteered as a counselor for Celebrate Recovery. A writer of countless poems, she enjoyed traveling, reading writing, organizing and debating many topics.
Cynthia is survived by her son, Gary McMillan and his love, Jennifer Costabile; her daughter, Patrice Judah and her husband Imara; her grandchildren, Jalen Judah, Yahnell Judah, Yana Judah, Nesyah Judah, Josiah Judah and Jacob Costabile; her siblings and their spouses, Norma and Randolph Gordon, Yvonne and Paul Miller, Archibald and Peggy Davy, Angela and Eric Velasquez, Myrtle and Irving King, Daphne and David Small, Suzanne and Jim Keller, Erroll and Janeth Davy, Dennis and Angela Davy; her cousin, Kafey Simpson; her God daughter, Grace Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Jason McMillan, and her siblings, Kevin Davy, Ivy Christian, Peal Davy and Olive Davy.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11 am at Church of the Nazarene, 953 Main Street, Fishkill followed by burial at 12:30 pm at St. Denis Cemetery, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc.
