Cynthia M. Schokman, 92, an area resident for 9 years and formerly of Ossining, died peacefully on December 25, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka on May 3, 1927, she was the daughter of Ben and Muriel Ondatje. Cynthia was employed as an office worker for Dr. Frances Arndt and also worked at Barkers, both in Ossining. A woman of many trades who loved to cook and take care of her family.

On September 26, 1953 in Colombo, Sri Lanka, Cynthia married Percival Schokman, who predeceased her in July 2017. Her sisters, Doreen Biebusch, Frances Arndt, Verna Beven and Eleanor Ontadje, have also predeceased her.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Janine and Ron Iarossi of Hopewell Junction, Jeremy and Kim Schokman of Craryville, Monique and Joe Diano of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Jaclyn Iarossi and wife Meredith McKoy, Andrea Zolotas and husband Scott, Marisa Diano and husband, Anthony Eilers, Jessica Schokman, Joseph Diano and Michael Diano; her great-grandchildren, Reese Zolotas, Beau Zolotas, Killian McKoy Iarossi, Finn McKoy Iarossi, and Wes Zolotas and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Monday December 30th, from 10-11am at St. Andrew’s and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 850 Wolcott Avenue, Beacon followed by the funeral service at 11am. Private interment will be in the Church of the Resurrection Cemetery.
