D. James O'Neil, III, 60, a resident of LaGrangeville, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Westchester Medical Center.
Born in Hudson on July 24, 1951, he was the son of Daniel James O'Neil, Jr. and Carolyn Schug O'Neil. A 1974 graduate of Marist College, he received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Vermont Law School in 1977. He was employed by the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office from 1977 until 1989 where he handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases. In 2002, he became a partner in O'Neil & Burke, LLP, specializing in criminal, family and real estate law. He was a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Dutchess County Bar Association, and was an avid golfer.
On May 29, 1981 in Wappingers Falls, Jim married Kristen Webber who survives at home. He is also survived by his daughter, Kimberly Marko and her husband Scott of Manchester, CT; his father-in-law, John Webber; sister-in-law, Karen Cohen and her husband, Brian and his nephews, Jonathan and Jeffrey Cohen.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 1-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10am at the funeral home with Rev. Taylor Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
