On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, Dalila Meléndez Castillo Perez entered into eternal rest at the age of 84. She was born to Candelario Colon and Susana Castillo in Ceiba, Puerto Rico on November 13, 1937.

Dalila is survived by her son, John (Paula) Perez and her three daughters, Suzanne (Reid) Scott, Rebecca Perez and Melinda (Jayson) Velez. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Timothy Lake and her 7 grandchildren, Samantha, Katie, Alyssa, Amanda, Matt, Maya, and Mikayla.

As a single mother, Dalila worked 18 years at the Montgomery Nursing Home to provide for her "amazing" children. Dalila found the beauty of Christ in everything she did -- her volunteer work, her church community and her gardening.

Dalila was a member of Faith Temple Church in Beacon, NY where she was a church mother and a Sunday school teacher. Dalila's giving spirit led her to begin a charitable Thanksgiving dinner program that grew from 5 dinners to more than 150.
