Obituary

POUGHKEEPSIE – Daniel Louis DeCarlo, 74, an area resident since 2015, died on October 4, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in Yonkers.

Born in Valhalla on January 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Daniel and Nancy (Lombardo) DeCarlo. He has been employed as a Drug and Alcohol Supervising Counselor for St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers until his retirement. Daniel enjoyed painting and photography.

Daniel is survived by his grandchildren, Danielle Pernia and her boyfriend Dylan Soto of Poughkeepsie, Briana Brock of Poughkeepsie, and William Fortis, Jr. of Hopewell Junction; his sisters, Patricia Thomas and Nancy Dobbin and her husband Paul; his daughter, Amy Fortis and her husband William Fortis, Sr.; his nieces and nephews, Charlene DeCarlo, Randy DeCarlo, Maria Rose, Phyllis Ann, Paul Dobbin, Jr., Catherine Coscia, Lori Ann Thomas-Nicolo, Rocky Thomas, and Amy Thomas-Sheehan; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his brothers, Peter DeCarlo and Vito DeCarlo; and his nephews, Vito DeCarlo and Michael Dobbin.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will follow at 8pm at the funeral home.
