EAST FISHKILL - Daniel Paul DiDato, 47, died on December 18, 2023 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident while serving and protecting the people of the Town of East Fishkill.
Daniel was born on February 29, 1976 in the Bronx. In 1985, he and his family moved to Hopewell Junction. He graduated from John Jay Senior High School in 1994 and from Dutchess Community College in 2001 with an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.
Daniel worked as a patrol officer for the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) from 2001-2005. He has served as a police officer for the Town of East Fishkill for the last 19 years. He was the recipient of two lifesaving awards and was a field training officer.
He was an avid fan of the New York Rangers and the New York Yankees. He was a self-proclaimed food and pizza connoisseur. Throughout his life, Daniel was an integral member of the community and will be greatly missed.
Daniel is survived by his parents, Robert and Edvige (Miniaci) DiDato of Hopewell Junction; his brothers, Robert J. DiDato of East Fishkill and Mark J. DiDato of Fishkill; many cousins; countless friends; and brothers and sisters in law enforcement.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 4 – 8 pm in the auditorium of John Jay Senior High School, 2012 Route 52, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
