WAPPINGERS FALLS – Daniel Robert Durant, 41, an area resident since 2006 and formerly of Canastota, NY and West Springfield, MA, passed away on July 26, 2023.

Born in Springfield, MA on June 1, 1982, he was the beloved son of Robert Lawrence and Judith Marie (Auclair) Durant of Canastota. Dan graduated with honors from American International College in Springfield with his bachelor's degree in political science in 2004. He had been employed by the New York State Department of Corrections for 18 years at Downstate Correctional Facility and Fishkill Correctional Facility.

Dan enjoyed boating, water skiing, knee boarding, tubing, fast cars and motorcycles. He especially cherished time at the family's summer cottage in Wales, MA. He was a true car enthusiast at heart, a very special gene that he received from his father. His dream was always to buy a new Corvette which he did in August of 2022.

In addition to his parents, Dan is survived by his sister, Kathryn Lachance; his nephew, Ryan Lachance; his aunts and uncles, Deborah and Mark Drugan, Karen Foley whom he was extremely close to, Andrew and Carmela Auclair, Richard Durant and Steve Coulter; and his cousins, David and Beth Drugan, Shaun Drugan Christina and Josh Radwilowicz, Caitlin Foley, Joseph Foley, Casey Coulter, Jessica Douglass, Tanya Douglass and Amy Douglass. He was predeceased by his aunts, Linda Douglass and Sandra Coulter; and his grandparents, Ella and Louis Auclair, and Noella and Lawrence Durant.

Funeral services will be held at Curran Jones Funeral Home in West Springfield, MA in the near future.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
