Daniel "Dan" Haggerty, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully on May 17, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Dan was a man of many talents and an even larger heart, whose infectious sense of humor and unwavering loyalty made him a cherished figure in his community.
Dan proudly served his country in the United States Army, a period in his life that he held with great honor and pride. Following his military service, he channeled his mechanical skills and entrepreneurial spirit into founding Dan's Appliance Repair, a business renowned for its quality and customer care.
Later in life, Dan became a dedicated member of the maintenance team at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital. His colleagues appreciated his expertise, dependability, and the good-natured humor he brought to the workplace every day.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dan was the heart and soul of his home, especially on Friday nights when friends would gather at the infamous Tiki Bar he built in his backyard. These evenings were filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of companionship, a testament to Dan's gift for bringing people together.
Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Diana Haggerty; his loving daughters, Bridget Haggerty, Casey Haggerty, and Maggie Garrison; his treasured grandchildren, Wyatt, and Ellie; his sister, Carol Haggerty-Koutsos; and his brother, Rich Haggerty. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering friendship that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dan's memory to a charity of choice, reflecting the generous spirit with which he lived his life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21, from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, where friends and family will gather to celebrate Dan's remarkable life and bid him a heartfelt farewell. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
