STORMVILLE – Daniel M. Masterson, 64, of Stormville passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a valiant battle with cancer.
Dan graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School, Dutchess Community College, and Binghamton University before embarking on a long career in the semi-conductor industry as a field engineer. Dan loved all motorsports, especially auto racing, and enjoyed many field trips to Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, NY and to Lime Rock, CT to follow his passion for Formula 1 Racing and the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series. He loved working on cars in addition to watching them race. A talented mechanic, Dan welcomed the challenge of keeping the various BMWs, Audis, and Saabs he owned on the road over the course of the years. Dan possessed a keen intellect and a wide-ranging curiosity about an impressive array of subjects. Dan had a love for the outdoors, especially hiking, but above all else he treasured time spent with his family and his beloved dogs.
Dan was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on January 24, 1954 the son of Frank and Miriam (Driscoll) Masterson of Poughkeepsie, NY, both of whom predeceased him. Dan was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
He married Deborah Beckett on August 2, 1980. In addition to his wife Deborah, Dan is survived by his daughter Meghan Tidd (Mark) of Guilderland, NY; his son Daniel J. Masterson of Beacon, NY; grandchildren Allie and Connor Tidd; sister Deborah A. Masterson of Poughkeepsie, NY; sister Jamie St. Pierre (John) of Salt Point, NY; sister-in-law Susan Brooks (Tom) of Fishkill, NY; niece Erin Shields (Patrick) of Cold Spring, NY; nephew Mark Brooks (Colleen) of Malta, NY; as well as Justin Copeland, Dillon Copeland, and Amanda Prunty, whom he considered family members.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 26 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
