Daniel John Meyer

Daniel John Meyer died peacefully on September 18, 2026, from complications following a fall and stroke.

Born in Peekskill April 17, 1949, Daniel grew up in Cortlandt Manor with his parents John and Ruth Meyer, and siblings David and Susan. He graduated from Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak in 1967.

After establishing himself as a sought-after floral designer, Daniel originally opened his "World of Flowers" shop in Mahopac. He later owned Ashton's in Peekskill, which was well known for its beautiful flowers.

Over the years he faithfully volunteered at the Yorktown Grange Fair setting up the flower tent exhibits and flower show. He took home many ribbons from that and other shows, proving his creative skills as a floral designer.

He also stayed active in local garden clubs and took pride in the extensive Asian-inspired garden he designed at his childhood home on Lockwood Rd, before moving to Mahopac in recent years.

Dan was also a lifelong avid stamp collector and a member of the Cortlandt Stamp Club.

He created mixed-media framed art pieces using colorful stamps from all over the world, which were shown at the Hendrick Hudson Library in Montrose.

Daniel will also be remembered for his sense of humor, his love of traveling, and his cars, such as a special Mustang convertible, and music-especially Motown.

Predeceased by parents John and Ruth Meyer and brother David, Daniel is survived by his sister Susan Meyer and her spouse Robin, and by many cousins and good friends who will miss him.
