Daniel Patrick O'Callahan, Sr., a longtime resident of Dutchess County, passed away at home in Wappingers Falls on Sunday, August 23, 2026. He was 71.

Son of the late Daniel J. and Patricia (Bachmann) O'Callahan, he was born in the Bronx on March 30, 1955. Danny graduated from Mahopac High School and went on to attend Iona College. He worked as a carrier for the United States Postal Service for 35 years, retiring in 2013, being awarded for perfect attendance on multiple occasions. On October 5, 1984, he married Anne Marie Carroll from Mahopac, NY. Together they lovingly raised their four children. In 2016, he suffered a massive stroke, he fought for ten years with the tireless support from his wife Anne Marie.

Danny was a hard worker who prioritized his family in all that he did. He was a loyal New York Mets and Jets fan whose hobbies included gardening, technology and working on computers. Danny was mechanically inclined, friends and family alike could count on him for any vehicle or computer repair. He loved watching TV and old movies, a love for which he shared with his parents and passed on to his own children. He also loved talk radio, world history, National Geographic, and could wipe anyone on the Scrabble board. In his final years he challenged himself with many puzzles.

Danny leaves behind his loving wife Anne Marie at their home in Wappingers Falls.

As well as his son, Daniel P. O'Callahan, Jr. & his wife Heather of Wappingers Falls; his son, James "Seamus" O'Callahan of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Kaitlin M. O'Callahan & her partner Collins Redd of Gainesville, FL; his daughter, Colleen A. O'Callahan of Stratford, CT; his grandchildren: Danny O'Callahan (III), Lilly O'Callahan, Caroline O'Callahan, Maya Redd, and Jayden Redd; his two sisters, Susan Covino & her husband Michael and Alicia O'Callahan; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family members.

He was predeceased by his parents as well as his sister, Kahlua O'Callahan.

Calling hours will be held from 3:00pm to 6:00pm on Thursday, September 3 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A funeral service will be conducted at 5:30pm.
