Daniel J. Schatzle, 73, a lifelong area resident, died on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Wingate at Dutchess.
Born in Nelsonville on February 12, 1939, he was the youngest of five sons of Francis "Frank" and Mary Nevins Schatzle. He graduated from Haldane High School and was employed as an assembler for IBM, Poughkeepsie for more than 15 years until his retirement in 1993. Dan was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and an avid fan of the New York Giants and Mets.
On February 14, 1981 at St. Columba Church, Dan married Mary Ann Klarl who predeceased him on January 31, 2005. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Mary Beth and Douglas Tinnirello of Wappingers Falls and Stephanie and David McCarthy of Dudley, MA; his granddaughters, Miranda Octavia Tinnirello and Sadie Kathryn McCarthy; his brothers, Capt. Francis Schatzle of Annapolis, MD and Philip Schatzle and his wife, Peggy of Cold Spring; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Schatzle of Wappingers Falls; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Edward Schatzle who died on March 25, 2000 and Arnold Schatzle who died on January 8, 2013.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Cold Spring Cemetery.
