Obituary

Darlene Marie Andrew, 55, of Hopewell Junction and formerly of New Paltz and Poughkeepsie, died on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Darlene had a beautiful heart and she was an inspiration to everyone. In April, she was blessed to take a pilgrimage to Lourdes, France with her father through the Knights of Malta.
Darlene had been employed as an Administrative Assistant in the Registrar's Office at Dutchess Community College. She was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She also volunteered with the Sewing Group at the East Fishkill Community Library, and was an honorary member of the Renew Group and the "Lunch Bunch."
Born at Mountain Home AFB, ID on June 27, 1959, she was the daughter of Warren and Grace Klein Askland of Hopewell Junction. She is also survived by her sisters and their husbands, Denise and Ned Place of Ithaca, and Donna and George Rickman of Six Mile, SC; and her nephews, Elliott and Kevin Place. She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Askland; and her niece, Ingrid Place.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 3-7pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
