Obituary

LAGRANGEVILLE - David Michael Alderisio, 67, an area resident for over 30 years, died on September 28, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, surrounded by family. He previously lived in White Plains.

David was born in Manhattan on February 16, 1957 and grew up in Valhalla, New York. He attended Valhalla High School where he was a champion hurdler for the track team. David later graduated from Arkansas Tech with a bachelors degree in Forestry.

David began his career as a Watershed Inspector for the NYC Department of Environmental Protection in 1985. He was a dedicated and fierce protector of the watershed, leaving no stone unturned when investigating a case. David had a unique drive and ability to track suspected sources of pollution to their origin and to do what was needed to correct any issues. He especially enjoyed meeting fishermen in the watershed and hearing stories about the catch of the day. David also had many encounters with injured and unusual wildlife over the years, always trying to get them the help they needed. In 2022, David retired as Project Manager from the Regulatory and Engineering Program after 38 years of dedicated service.

An avid outdoorsman, David especially enjoyed fishing and grilling, particularly spicy foods. He loved trying new recipes and sharing them with friends and family. Over the years David volunteered with Blythedale Children's Hospital, Save the Sound, Riverkeeper, several food pantries, and was a long time beloved coach for Special Olympics.

David was a loving husband, son, brother, and above all, an amazing father. Always putting family first he faithfully attended school concerts, soccer, softball, and baseball games; and even joined karate so the family could spend many years together earning their black belts.

In November of 1994, at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, he married Kerri (Flaherty) Alderisio who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Meagan Alderisio and Michael Alderisio; his mother, Joan (Burke) Alderisio; his siblings, William Alderisio and his wife Lynette, Greg Alderisio, Kristin Alderisio, and Kara Alderisio; and his nieces and nephews, Jordan, Dylan, Katie, Kathleen, Will, Laura, Peter, John, and Maggie. He also had a special relationship with his in-laws, Peter and Mary Flaherty, David and Eileen Scholes, and John and Susan Grega. David was predeceased by his father, William Alderisio.
