MONTGOMERY – David Wayne Hayes, 66, a resident of Montgomery since 2012, died on January 25, 2021 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown. He previously lived in Wappingers Falls.

Born on February 9, 1954 in Beacon, David was the son of the late Ronald and Violet (Plaisted) Hayes. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School. He was employed as a HVAC Technician for Mechanical Construction in Poughkeepsie and was a member of Local 201 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.

David was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Falls. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed watching it on television. He liked playing cards and pool with friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Later in life, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

David is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Jennifer Hayes of Cornwall and Amber and Matthew Cuchelo of Mount Pleasant, SC; his grandchildren, Lucas Hayes, Olivia Hayes, Bowden Cuchelo, Nolan Cuchelo, and Quinten Cuchelo; his sister, Bonnie Hayes of Montgomery; his brother, Stephen Hayes of Maryland; and his 2 nephews. In addition to his parents, David was also predeceased by his brother, Scott Hayes and his sister, Cherie Hayes.

Due to current COVID restrictions, funeral services will be private at this time. Donations may be made in David’s memory to the National Emphysema Foundation.
