David LaForge Jr., 63, a lifelong area resident, died on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Poughkeepsie on March 15, 1947, he was the son of the late David Sr. and Edith Chase LaForge. David was employed by Jay Schaffer Construction in Pleasant Valley until his retirement in 2000.

On March 27, 1973 at the Beekman Baptist Church, David married Carol Dennis who survives in Florida. He is also survived by his children, David III, Jennifer, Denise, Michael and Linda LaForge of Florida; his siblings and their spouses, Brenda and Jimmie Dement of NC, Linda Ballard of Stormville, Sharon and Robert Stramm of Stanfordville, Allen LaForge of Poughkeepsie, Terry and James Finn of Hudson-, Denise and Earl Bishop of Otsego, Laura and James Vail of LaGrangeville, Brian and Lynn LaForge of TN and Pamela and Joseph McGinty of Salt Point; 9 grandchildren and 77 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Frederick O. Ballard; and his nephew, Thomas D. Ballard.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will follow at 4 pm.
