David Michael Luchnick, age 66, of Verbank NY, passed away on December 10, 2021 while at home in hospice care. After a valiant four and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer, he was granted peace on his birthday.
David grew up in Connecticut, graduated from UCONN and moved to Dutchess County in the 1980's, where he and wife raised their family. David was dedicated to his family, friends and community. He was a volunteer coach for youth sporting teams for many years and was an inspiration to those who had the pleasure of being coached by him. He was known for his fairness and love of the games and for the players. He shared his love of music, silly accents, jokes and craft beers with everyone he met. He was an overall boisterous and joyful man.
David is survived by his wife Trish Luchnick of 38 years, daughters Katie Peluso and Emily Gurney, son-in-law Stuart Gurney, grandchildren Mason, Jack and Abigail. He is survived by his brother Todd Luchnick, by his big brother Donald Bradley and younger sister Cindy Parade, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him like family. He is also survived by his in-laws, Al and Pat Bickley of CT, who loved him as a son. David was predeceased by his parents George and Rosalind Luchnick, brother Bruce and son- in- law Philip Peluso.
David faced his diagnosis like he did his life; head-on, honest, with humor, and with love for his family and friends. David went peacefully in his own home, surrounded by the smell of his favorite cake, listening to his favorite music and with his family at his bedside. He made the ultimate donation of giving his tissue and organs to Sloan Kettering Hospital for further research toward curing Pancreatic Cancer.
