Cape Charles, Virginia - Dawn Melody Nevill, 71, passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

Born October 1, 1953, in Queens, NY, to Ellis and Janet Bartrow, she attended Carmel High School and graduated in 1970. She had one child, Daniel Flynn, from her first marriage.

Dawn was a Real Estate Agent and Broker in Dutchess County from 1985-95 founding two real estate companies in Wappingers Falls, NY. In 1996, she became a Reiki Master and opened a shop called Angel Quest. Dawn practiced Reiki there until 2002.

In 2002, she moved to Cape Charles, Virginia. She married Jim Nevill in 2014. Together they opened Kings Creek Inn; a bed and breakfast in Cape Charles for two years and most recently an antique shop called The Trunk in Cheriton, Virginia. She was working on her latest adventure, converting a 65-ton passenger ferry into the Chesapeake Queen for sunset cruises out of Cape Charles.

Dawn was an intelligent, kind, spiritual, caring and all-around beautiful person inside and out. A world traveler who loved her grandchildren. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Dawn is survived by her husband James Nevill, who survives at home in Cape Charles. She is also survived by her son; Daniel Flynn and his wife Carleen of Fishkill, New York; two step-daughters, Rose Nevill of Charlottesville, Virginia and Holly North and her husband Daniel of Aldershot, England; a brother, Charles Leight of Virginia; a brother-in-law, Andrew Nevill of Aldershot, England; four grandchildren, Daniel and John Flynn of Fishkill, New York, and Samuel and Elizabeth North of Aldershot, England: as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Dawn was predeceased by four brothers, Ellis (Butch), Gerald and Robert Bartrow and Francis (Corky) Dakin.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 4-7pm at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. Interment will follow at Maple Avenue Cemetery in Patterson, New York. A celebration of life will be held in Cape Charles, Virginia this spring.
