Obituary

Debra Ann Quaranto, a 50-year local area resident, formerly of Carmel and the Bronx, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan. She passed away surrounded by her loving family, with a "heart that was full," as she used to say. She was a youthful 71 years of age.

She was born on May 7, 1955, at the Rodriguez Army Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where her father was stationed during his US Navy service. Debbie graduated from Carmel High School in 1973, where she was a cheerleader and, in later years, became active with her class reunion committee. She later earned an associate degree from Westchester Community College. She started as a lab technician, and later worked side-by-side with her husband, building and running RD Properties together.

On May 21, 1977, she married Robert P. Quaranto-her life partner, soulmate, and best friend-at St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel. Their partnership was one of true equality, shared purpose, and unwavering devotion. Robert survives at home in Beekman.

Debbie enjoyed dancing, music, and singing. She will be remembered as a great cook who loved entertaining family and friends, especially for Sunday dinners, birthdays, and holidays. Narragansett, Rhode Island, was her second home; a place where countless memories were made and life was deeply enjoyed. A loving wife, mom, "Mimi," daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many, nothing brought her more joy than her family. To her, being "Mimi" was everything: her purpose, her delight, her world. She loved attending her grandchildren's many activities, always there to cheer them on. She leaves behind a love that will be missed beyond measure.

In addition to her husband, Debbie is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Bronzi (Philip) of Beekman; her son, Robert Quaranto, Jr. (Laura) of East Fishkill; her son, Christopher Quaranto (Jamie) of Beekman; and her son, Michael Quaranto (Danielle) of Beekman. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Nicolas Bronzi, Sophia Bronzi, Dominic Bronzi, Isabella Bronzi, Anthony Bronzi, Tracey Dimino (Milania and Luciano), Ava Quaranto, Giavanna Quaranto, Christopher Quaranto, Jr., Kamilla Quaranto, Michael Quaranto, and Lessia Quaranto; her father, Orlando Padovani of Mahopac; her sister, Lynn Daly (Thomas) of Mahopac; as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families, several siblings-in-law, and countless other loving family members.

Debbie was predeceased by her mother, Eleanor DiCostanzo Padovani, as well as two grandchildren, Lailah Grace and Enzo Giovanni Quaranto.

She will always be remembered for her smile, warmth, compassion, and loving nature.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY, with interment following at St. Denis Cemetery.
