Demetra J. "Tudy" Berger, a resident of Fishkill since 1968, formerly of Delaware, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. She was 93.
Daughter of the late Nick and Nora (Walters) Jones, she was born in Wilmington, Delaware on November 8, 1920. Tudy graduated from high school in Lewes, DE and attended the University of Delaware. During World War II, she worked as a nurse's aide at Fort Miles.
On October 19, 1946, she married Ellis "Chick" Berger. She was predeceased by her husband just months ago on November 9, 2013. They shared 67 years of marriage together.
Tudy volunteered locally for the former St. Francis Hospital in Beacon and Meals-on-Wheels. She cherished time spent with her family and close friends, and greatly enjoyed playing bridge.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Berger of Fishkill; her son, Nick Berger & his wife Nancy of Garrison; her daughter, Cate Cannon & her husband Greg of Hingham, MA; her grandsons, Andrew and Mac Berger; and her great-grandson, Troy Berger.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
