Denis Bartholomew, 57, a lifelong area resident, died on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Poughkeepsie on November 5, 1953, he was the son of Florence Borchers Bartholomew of Poughkeepsie and the late Kenneth Bartholomew. Denis was employed as an elevator constructor for 25 years until his retirement earlier this year. He was a long time member of Local #138 and was President of the local for many years, he was also a certified OSHA safety instructor. Denis was a member of the Valley Community Church of the Nazarene in Clinton Corners and served his church for many years.

Denis was the beloved husband of Lori DeGelormo Bartholomew for over 31 years. He is also survived by his sons, Shane Bartholomew and grandson George of Wappingers Falls, Lance Bartholomew, his wife Nina and grandson Mason of LaGrangeville, Garet Bartholomew of Poughkeepsie and Logan Bartholomew of LaGrangeville; his brother Clark Bartholomew and his wife Brenda, his sisters Janet Bacon and husband David, Leigh Williams and husband Tim, and the late Diana D'Angelo. Denis is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews and countless friends and family who were very blessed to know him.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home. Private interment will be in the Freedom Plains Cemetary.
