Dennis Franz Brooks, 74, a resident of the Town of East Fishkill for eight years, formerly of Yorktown Heights and Yonkers, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Tuesday, June 8, 2010.

For over 35 years, he worked for I.B.M. in various locations and retired from the Human Resources Department in Somers. Dennis was a member of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction and was an avid fisherman. He will always be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor which stayed with him till his last day.

Born in Yonkers on February 27, 1936, he was son of the late Francis J. and Josephine Scavnicky Brooks. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He received his B.S. in Business Administration from Manhattan College with honors in 1972.

On January 30, 1960, he married Elaine Muraik at Christ the King Church and they joyfully celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year in St. Denis Church and at home with family.

Mrs. Brooks survives at home. Dennis is also survived by his daughter Alison B. Jones & her husband John of Jacksonville. AL; his son, Michael D. Brooks & his wife Deborah of Brookfield, CT; his daughter, Karina B. Saslow & her husband Steven of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Christopher, Katherine, & Matthew Brooks and Julia Saslow; his brother, Derek Brooks & his wife Ethel Wagner of Bedford; his sister, Tamara Brooks & her husband Theodore Bikel of California, and many other loving family members and friends.

Calling hours are from 2 to 5 on Sunday, June 13, at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 14, at St Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.

The family thanks all the physicians, nurses, and staff at Vassar Brothers Medical Center who have treated and cared for Dennis for the past almost seven years, as well as all his other physicians and caregivers.
