Dennis D. Byrne, 80, an area resident for 5 years, passed away on August 22, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He previously lived in the Bronx.

Born in the Bronx on August 2, 1935, he was the son of the late Denis and Nellie (McAuliffe) Byrne. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1952-1954. He had been employed as a conductor for Metro North Railroad, where he worked for 42 years, until his retirement in 1996.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Susan (Healy) Byrne of Hopewell Junction; his children, Eileen Montiero of Wappingers Falls, Carol Stabile and her husband Anthony of Queens, Thomas Byrne and his wife Clara of Mamaroneck, Theresa Ortiz of Florida, Joseph Byrne of Bayside, Michael Byrne of Manhattan, Susan McAuliffe and her husband Daniel of LaGrangeville, Dennis Byrne and his wife Summer of Hopewell Junction; and Lisa Jimison and her husband James of Hopewell Junction; 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dennis was also predeceased by his son, David Byrne in 2013, his daughter-in-law, Linda Byrne; 3 brothers; and a sister.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
