Diane Hughes Zipprich, 84, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026 at the Paramount at Somers Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie on August 31, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Marion (Pike) Hughes. A dedicated student and passionate caregiver, Diane graduated from Arlington High School Class of 1958, St. Francis School of Nursing in 1961, and received her BS in Columbia University in 1966. Diane dedicated her life to the nursing profession, sharing her knowledge as a nursing instructor at St. Francis Hospital and serving with compassion at Butterfield Hospital in Cold Spring and St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, before retiring from the Elant Nursing Home in Wappingers Falls.

A lifelong parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction, Diane's unwavering faith shaped her life. She co-coordinated the Hearts and Hands Outreach program for many years and served as a Eucharistic Minister at both St. Denis Church and Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Diane also completed 4 years of New York Bible School through the Archdiocese of New York.

Diane's greatest joy came from her family. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Beautiful memories were created through family trips, including cruises with her husband, Edgar, with whom she shared an enduring love of 60 years, having married on January 22, 1966, at St. Denis Church. Diane also found delight in the simple pleasures of life, from caring for her beloved cat, Minka, to observing the birds at her feeder and gathering for lunch with friends, particularly her fellow St. Francis alumni, as well as cooking meals for her family and listening to music.

In addition to her husband, Diane is also survived by her children and their spouses, Diane and Michael Greiner, Paul and Bonnie Zipprich, Rosanne and Mark English; her sister, Marion Dudek; and her cherished grandchildren, Emma Zipprich, Megan Zipprich, Luke Zipprich, Mikayla Greiner and Garrett Greiner.
