BETHEL, CT – Dolores "Doreen" Bleakley, 87, died peacefully at the Maplewood at Stony Hill in Bethel, CT. She previously lived in Westchester and Putnam counties, and had spent 18 years of her retirement in Sunset Beach, NC.
Born in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, Ireland on September 15, 1935, Doreen was the daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Kate (Slevin) Maloney. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John Bleakley on October 9, 2016. Doreen was a devoted Catholic who was committed to her loving family. She had a passion for volunteering in her community.
Doreen is survived by her children, John Bleakley and his wife Donna of LaGrange, Robert Bleakley and his wife Cristina of Dover Plains, and Jean Bleakley-Goncalez and her fiancé Charles Weyant of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Amanda McElroy, Patrick Goncalez, Robert Bleakley, Joann Bleakley, Andrew Bleakley, and Jesse Bleakley; her great-grandson, Wyatt Goncalez; her siblings, May (Gordon) Caster, and Sean (Ann) Maloney; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Doreen was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Kayla Goncalez; and her siblings, Kathleen (Barney) Bernard, Eileen (Daniel) Kiely, Elizabeth (Betty), Edward (Gay) Walker, and Paud (Rita).
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, October 29th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at Milltown Rural Cemetery.
