FISHKILL - Dolores M. Dermody, 77, an area resident since 2017, passed away at home surrounded by her family on July 9, 2024 after a brief but courageous cancer battle. She previously lived in the Bronx.

Born in Manhattan on November 11, 1946, Dolores was the daughter of the late Richard and Evelyn (Neidinger) Clanny. In 1967 at St. Brendan Church in the Bronx, she married Raphael Dermody who predeceased her in 2016 after 48 years of marriage.

Dolores was an avid fabricator of miniature dolls and shadow boxes and also enjoyed researching genealogy. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who she referred to as her gems. Dolores acted as a second mother to many people and was always there for anyone who needed help, encouragement or to be set straight. Her sense of humor and classic one liners will be remembered by all.

Dolores is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Denise and Michael O'Mara of Hopewell Junction and Jennifer and Joseph Santolo of Putnam Valley; her grandchildren, John and Thomas O'Mara and Leah and Joseph Santolo; her siblings, Arlene Clanny, Evelyn McGarrigle and her husband John, and Marie Clanny; her nephew, Christopher Switach; and many other nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Friday, July12th from 2 – 4 pm with a funeral service at 4 pm.
