Carmel- Dolores "Dolly" Hellthaler known also to many as Nana passed away on April 20, 2024. She was 85 years old.
Dolly was born on June 12, 1938, in Lynn, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late James and Theresa (Ryan) Mann.
Dolly worked for the Carmel Central School District at Carmel High School as Teaching Assistant. She enriched the lives of countless students over her 25 plus years working in the Special Education Department.
She had a passion for Kenny Rogers and Clay Aiken and loved listening to her all-time favorite singer Celine Dion. She enjoyed dancing and was in the Guiness Book of World Records for tap dancing in Times Square. She loved the beach and contributing to the success of QVC home shopping. She was a founding member of the "Golden Girls" Club of Vista on the Lake where she could be found running the club down at the pool. Above all, Dolly, "Nana" loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She proudly referred to herself as Snow White, and the grandchildren, her Seven Dwarfs.
Dolly is survived by three daughters: Noreen Halberstadt, Karen (Sonny) Metz and Heidi Harrison. Her grandchildren: Ayla (Ian) Patrick, Alex (Matt) Corcoran, Ethan (Grace) Harrison, Jazlyn Halberstadt, Bryan Brown, Aaron (Allyssa) Harrison and Kayla (Dan) LaPoint. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Avery Corcoran and Ethan Cooper, Olive Harrison, Ivy Harrison and Baby Boy LaPoint on the way. In addition, she is survived by her siblings: Beverly Hanson, Buzzy Cook and Butch Cook, Nancy Mann and Donna MacLeod along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and the ladies of the Vista on the Lake Golden Girls: Christine Brady, Patricia Burdi, and Lorraine Hahn.
She is pre-deceased by her sister Judy Jacobsen and her son-in-law Paul Halberstadt
Memorial calling hours will be on Friday, July 26, 2024, at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc. 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY from 4pm-6pm.
A memorial funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY.
In keeping with Dolly's love of summertime please wear your favorite attire.
