Obituary

Dominic J. Ambrosio, 100, an area resident since 2004 and formerly of Whiting, NJ, Dix Hills, L.I., and Woodhaven, Queens died on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the Putnam Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in New York City on March 15, 1913, he was the son of Pasquale and Lucy Roshinetti Ambrosio. He was the owner and operator of D.J. Ambrosio Shipping Company in New York City. He was a volunteer at the Community Hospital in Toms River and St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
On May 5, 1933 at St. Elizabeth Church in Woodhaven, Queens, Dominic married Frances Sanatore, who predeceased him in 2000. He was also predeceased by his son, Patrick. He is survived by his son Ronald Ambrosio and his wife Helen of Poughquag; his daughter-in-law, Jean Ambrosio of Virginia Beach, VA; his siblings, Caroline Livreri, Patricia Lokay, Edith Phipps and John Ambrosio; his grandchildren, Patrick and his wife Gale, Donald and his wife Joanne, David and his wife Kim, Christopher, and Erin; his great-grandchildren, Dennis, Jeana, and Ethan; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 12 noon at St. Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ followed by interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
