Donald J. Smith, Jr., 76, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1962 and formerly of Albany, died on Monday, November 16, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
Born in Albany on March 22, 1933, he was the son of Donald and Dorothy Wood Smith.  He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was employed as a furnace repairman for Bacu Fuel, Inc. in Poughkeepsie until his retirement.  He was a member of the Manny Bacon Post of the American Legion and the VFW.
On November 26, 1962 in Hopewell Junction, Donald married Patricia Kelly who survives at home.  He is also survived by his children, Karleena Blume of Florida, Donald Smith of Albany and Larry Smith of Albany; his stepchildren, Felixia Smith of NC, Thomas Bowles, and David Bowles of NH; his grandchildren, Nancie Plaza-Anderson and her husband, Marc of Hyde Park, Tina Shea of Ossining and Rayleena Knoebel of GA; his great-grandsons, Bryan Anderson and Robert Bowles; and many nieces and nephews.
The services are private at the convenience of the family.
