Doris H. Daly, age 97, died after a long illness on July 14, 2012. Her loving husband James L. Daly predeceased her in 1994. She is the mother of Joanne McGilton of Hopewell Junction, Barbara Van Tassell and her husband Fred Van Tassell of LaGrangeville and Doris Waddington of Hopewell Junction.
Doris had several grandchildren, Bryce Litwin, M.D. of Danville, PA , Bryan Waddington of San Francisco, CA, Kirstin Litwin of LaGrangeville, Lauren Waddington of Mt. Tremper, Rev.Malachi Van Tassell, T.O.R. of Mt. Loretto, PA, Edward J. Van Tassell of Columbus, OH and Glendon and Amy Van Tassell of Flinton, PA. She also had 7 great grandchildren, Peyton and Jacob Litwin, Catherine, Dylan, Savannah, Gavin and Adam Van Tassell.
Doris was a communicant at St. Columba Church, Hopewell Junction. Formerly, she lived with her husband and family in Stuyvesant Town in N.Y.C. and prior to that Riverside Drive, NYC. She was active in the Altar Rosary Society and the Mother's Club at St. Emeric's Church, NYC. She was also a member of the Melzingah Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
Doris was a homemaker and later worked as a private secretary for Mrs. Louis Marron of Sutton Place, NYC. She was also a secretary for her husband, James, a practicing attorney in NYC and Hopewell Junction.
Doris was a wonderful wife and mother to her children and grandchildren. We will all miss her very much but know that she has longed to see her beloved Jimmy once again in Heaven. She is finally at peace.
Calling hours are 4-7 pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Mass will take place at St.Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, on July 19, 2012 at 11 am. The Christian Burial will be at St. Denis Cemetery on Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction immediately following the Mass. Donations for Masses may be given to St. Columba Church or The Franciscan Friars, T.O.R. in Mt. Loretto, PA . Please do not send flowers.
