Doris A. Manzo, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1962, formerly of the Bronx, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024. She was 96.
Daughter of the late Paul and Maria (Cordisco) Cicchetti, she was born in the Bronx on May 19, 1928. For many years, Doris worked as a bookkeeper for Spector & Shandley in the Garment District of Manhattan, and later for the Wappingers Central School District.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and formerly of St. Ann's Church in the Bronx. Doris was also an active participant at local senior citizen gatherings.
On July 29, 1951, she married Salvatore Manzo. She was predeceased by her husband on October 26, 1993.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Manzo Sarubbi of Poughkeepsie; her daughter, Debra Giannatasio & her husband Joseph of LaGrange; her son, Salvatore Manzo & his wife Theresa of Wappingers Falls; ten grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Joan Cicchetti; her son-in-law, Jim Sarubbi; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends. Doris is also survived by her longtime partner and companion, Guy Giacobbe, along with his family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was also predeceased by her son, Paul Manzo; her daughter-in-law, Linda Manzo; her brother, Bernard Cicchetti; and her sister, Ida Muscolino & her husband Pat.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 26 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, 171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Doris' family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Hudson Valley Hospice for the care and support they've provided during such a difficult time.
