Dorothee Amalia Wagner, 85, of Rexford, NY, died on July 12, 2011 at the Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
Born on March 27, 1926 in Danbury, CT, she was the daughter of John George and Anna Emilia Stietzel Wagner. She grew up in Danbury and also lived in Natchez and Jackson, MS and New York City. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Roosevelt School of Nursing in New York City, received her BS and Masters from NYU, and her Nurse Practitioner Degree from Columbia University. Dorothee taught nursing at Roosevelt School of Nursing, The Midwifery Program at the University of Jackson, Jackson, MS and Alcorn University, Natchez, MS She was an active member of the LWML and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Schenectady NY and volunteered at a soup kitchen in Schenectady.
Dorothee is survived by her brother, Robert E. Wagner of Washingtonville; her nieces and nephews, Eva and Paul Jakubek of Stamford, CT, Helen Nichols of Hopewell Jct., NY and John and Josephine Wagner of Oriskany Falls, NY; and her great nieces and nephews, Anna, Gregory and Pamela Jakubek, Heather and Peter Varco, Courtney Lyn Wagner.
The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 1 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 21 Still Road, Monroe, NY . Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
