Obituary

Dorothie Louise Franklin, 90, a resident of the Fountains at Millbrook since 1997 and formerly of Towson, MD, died on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in New York City on May 13, 1922, she was the daughter of Peyton and Gertrude Rudolf Miller. She graduated from Hunter College with her Master's in Education. Dot was employed as a teacher for the City of New York Board of Education at PS 48 in the Bronx for 30 years.

On June 29, 1957 at St. Athanasius Church in the Bronx, Dorothie married Berdsell O. Franklin, Jr. who predeceased her on December 31, 1996. Dot and Frank enjoyed traveling and entertaining. They loved photography and even developed their own film.

Dot is survived by her sisters-in-law, Virginia Miller and Olga Miller; her nieces, Karla Miller, Nancy Krupczyn and Dorothie Haygood; her nephews, Jon Miller, Arnold Miller and Eric Miller; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Wilbur and Arnold Miller.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction with a prayer service at 3pm and 8pm. Interment will be on Tuesday at 12 noon in Calverton National Cemetery.
