Dorothy M. Dyer, a resident of Fishkill since 1962, died at the River Valley Care Center in Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. She was 95.
Born in Manhattan on January 25, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Della Winkle Dexter. On July 1, 1950, she married Robert A. Dyer in Clifton, NJ. In conjunction with her husband's Military Service career, Dorothy had previously resided in California, West Point and New Jersey.
She volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, baking and dancing.
Dorothy and Robert were married for 62 years. Her husband survives at home. She is also survived by her son, Robert E. Dyer and his wife Stephanie of Hopewell Junction; her brother, Edward Dexter of Clifton, NJ; her niece, Susan Cenik & her husband Kenny of Clifton, NJ, along with their children Christopher and Tracy; also many other loving nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 20 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 21 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in the community mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
