Obituary

Dorothy Eloise von Hagen, 94, formerly of Verbank, died peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2016 surrounded by her family at the Thompson House.

Born in Kingston on October 16, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Van Aiken) Ellsworth. In March of 1953 at the Church of Atonement, Dorothy married August Henry von Hagen who predeceased her on December 27, 1988.

Dorothy will forever be remembered by her family as a great mother and an amazing grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, August von Hagen and Debbie Maresca of Rhinebeck, Carol Monaghan and her husband James of Brentwood, Ellen Pionzio and her husband Wayne of Willow Spring, NC, Judy Lenane and her husband Tom of Verbank, and Nancy Hauser of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Christina and her husband Anthony, Jacqueline, Jeannine and her husband Shane, Caitlin, Michael, Kathleen, Janice, Michelle and her husband David, Salvatore and his wife Leah, Laura, Tommy, Amanda and Artie, and Joey and Fran; her great grandchildren, Madison, A.T., David, James, Michael, Abigail, Alexander, Nicolas, Isabella, Gabriella, and Joseph Jr.; and her brother-in-law, Arthur von Hagen.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.
