Obituary

On June 26, 2010 after a long, emotional battle with osteosarcoma, Dorothy M. "Dotty" Lattin let Jesus take the wheel and drive her home to His mansion in the sky.
Born April 28, 1939 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore Charles Mauro and Amelia "Marie" (Gallo) Mauro. Dotty grew up in the Bronx until age 14 when she and her family moved to New Paltz. She attended New Paltz High School where she graduated at the top of her class. After high school, Dotty worked for DeLaval Co. and IBM. In 1973, she moved to Hopewell Junction where she raised her family and resided until her earthly departure. Dotty had a 27 year career with Wappingers Central School District until her retirement in June 2007. Dotty loved to dance and dine out but especially loved cooking and baking for her family and friends. Dotty enjoyed life as she wanted and did it "her way", and we all loved and respected her for it. Dotty's heart was as big as the moon and she will be missed and never forgotten.
She is survived by her daughters, Lisa M. Jackson and her husband Sean of Poughkeepsie and Lori A. Keenly and her husband Brian of Palmerton, PA. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Teresa Mauro, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many grand-dogs and grand-cats. She was predeceased in death by her long-time four legged companion, Brandy.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will be in the family plot at St. Charles Cemetery in Gardiner.
