Dorothy Brunner Schiesel, 101, a Wappingers Falls resident since 1954, left this world on October 30, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Greenwich Village, NYC on October 3, 1920, she was the daughter of August and Julia Conti Brunner. She graduated from Washington Irving High School as a business major and became an Executive Secretary in the US Department of Agriculture in New York City and in Washington DC.
On January 31, 1946 at St. Joseph's RC Church, Greenwich Village, NYC, she married Thomas Schiesel. They moved to Kenmore, NY then to Wappingers Falls, NY where they raised their family of twin sons and two daughters.
Those who knew Dottie were truly fortunate for she was well informed and engaged in lively discussions on many subjects. Her wide range of interests included sewing, painting, reading, gardening, current news and politics but her primary focus was always on her family.
Dottie is survived by sons John and Daniel (Lorry) Schiesel; and daughters Anne Schiesel and Lorraine LaVallee. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Jessamyn Schiesel, Dylan (Candice) Schiesel, Julia ( Amete ) Balas, John ( Mandee ) LaVallee, Jenna ( Andrew) Bohannon. She was also blessed with 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 74 years Tom, her brothers Albert and Dominick, and sisters Emma Heffernan, Anna Brunner and Muriel Castanis.
