Dorothy M. Skidgell, 90, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1989 and formerly of Yonkers, died on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Yonkers on November 17, 1920, she was the daughter of Leonard and Mary Traver Morechurch. Dorothy was employed as a school secretary for the White Plains Board of Education for 20 years until her retirement in 1989. She attended Mass at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and was an election inspector in the Town of East Fishkill for 20 years. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with all of them.
On February 2, 1939 in Yonkers, Dorothy married Russell W. Skidgell, Jr. who predeceased her. She is survived by her son, William A. Skidgell and his wife Patricia of Hopewell Junction; her daughter, Dianne Lamoureux of Brewster; her son-in-law, William Rinck; her grandchildren, Kathleen and Kenneth Licari, William R. and Lindsey Skidgell, Shivawn and Lewis Derenzis, Darlene and Salvatore Salamone; and her great-grandchildren, Salvatore Salamone, Lewis Derenzis and Connor Licari. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Rinck.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson.
