Hyde Park, NY – Douglas James Clarke Sr, a resident of LaGrangeville, NY, passed away on December 15, 2020 at the age of 71.

Doug was born on August 20, 1949 in Burlington, VT, the son of the late James "Fred" Clarke and Evelah Ursula Mott who sadly predeceased him when he was only 9 years old. His father re-married the late Vera McCarthy Clarke who he considered "Mom" for the remainder of his life.

On June 26, 1972, he married the love of his life and soulmate, Linda Marie Calvachio of Lake Carmel, NY. They lived in Lake Carmel, NY, started a family and raised two sons. In 1988, the family moved to LaGrangeville, NY. His beloved wife and family patriarch, Linda, sadly passed away on April 29, 2004.

Doug was a CAD Designer for his career, spanning 30 + years working for Technicon, which later became Bayer Diagnostics. His passion was designing the circuitry boards used in medical diagnostic systems including blood dialysis machines, which would help serve many people with critical illness, including his own father who relied on dialysis for years.

Doug enjoyed working with computers, listening to music, and all things New York Yankees or New York Giants! GO BIG BLUE! In his early days with Technicon, he played on the company softball team and in addition, enjoyed camping, fishing, and playing baseball with his sons all through their childhood. He was an animal lover, and his most recent beloved pet was a pug named Sassy who predeceased him.

Doug is survived by his eldest son Doug Clarke Jr and wife Irene, and his grandsons DJ and Evan all of whom reside in Hyde Park, NY, and his youngest son David Clarke of Poughkeepsie, NY. He was predeceased by his middle son, Thomas Clarke, who passed a short time after birth.

He is also survived by his brother Billy Clarke and wife Stacy with their two sons of Hopewell Jct., NY; his sisters Keiren Farquhar of Mahopac, NY and Kathy Curry of Carmel, NY; his sisters-in-law Vicky Calvachio of Yonkers, NY, Barbara Miuccio of Wappingers, NY and Lucy Calvachio of LaGrangeville, NY along with his brothers-in-law Michael Whelan, John Curry, Roger Merritt, Ray Miuccio and John Calvachio; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters Diane Whelan, Mary "Dede" McConnell and Vera "Lulu" Merritt.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 11:30 am – 1pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. There will be a service at 1pm followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
