Obituary

Douglas C. Morrison September 27, 1961 – December 16, 2021 Douglas C. Morrison entered into rest December 16, 2021 at his home in Wappingers Falls. He was 60. The son of David and Judith Morrison, he was born September 27, 1961 in Yonkers. Doug grew up in Fishkill and was a graduate of John Jay High School and SUNY New Paltz. After working for a time in the Washington, DC area, he returned to New York and became a union organizer for CSEA. Doug later went on to become a CSEA labor relations specialist, negotiating union contracts and advocating on behalf of working people across Dutchess County and neighboring counties. Not only did Doug possess tremendous patience and compassion on the job, he also never hesitated to lend a hand to CSEA members in need, even when that meant spending long hours knocking on doors and mobilizing the community on important issues. Well-known for his self-deprecating sense of humor, it made perfect sense that Doug was a devoted Mets fan. Many summers, he enjoyed traveling with a group of childhood friends to different baseball stadiums across the country. He was a loyal friend to many and was beloved by his co-workers at CSEA. Doug also had a special place in his heart for rescued animals and most recently was joined by his faithful canine companion, Bolt. Doug is survived by his life partner, Rhonda Cafarelli of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Carrie Morrison of Fishkill; his sister, Dori Homa (Bill) of Clinton Corners, and his niece and nephew, Emily and Cody Homa; his brother, Dave Morrison (Carmella) of Fishkill, and his niece and nephew, Danielle and Davey Morrison; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Egnasher (Jordan) of Poughkeepsie and step-grandchildren Audrey DeMello, Peyton White and Landon White. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 7 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. Memorial contributions may be made in Doug's memory to St. Jude Children's Memorial Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 or at www.stjude.org.
