FISHKILL, NY – Edith Mabel Andrew, 92, died on October 18, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. A resident of Fishkill, NY since 2012, she previously lived in West Peabody, MA for over 50 years.
Born on May 21, 1929 in Boston, MA, Edith was the daughter of the late George and Avangeline (Herald) Otis. She had been employed by Hanscom Airforce Base in Lexington, MA for over 23 years until her retirement in 1997.
Edith was a former member of the Danvers Church of the Nazarene in Danvers, MA and a faithful attender of the Hyde Park Baptist Church in Hyde Park, NY. Edith loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. This past July, Edith and her husband Elmer spent their 65th Anniversary with her entire family for a wonderful week at the Word of Life, Pines, Schroon Lake, NY. The Word of Life always held a special place in Edie's heart. She was one of the first campers at Jack Wyrtzen Island Youth Camp. She always loved to share her fond memories of those times with her family and friends.
On July 14, 1956 at a beautiful ceremony in Melrose, MA, Edith married Elmer Leslie Andrew. Her husband of 65 years survives at home. She is also survived by her son, Paul Andrew and his wife Darene of Fishkill, NY; her grandchildren, Glen Andrew and Danielle Mann, Suzanne Henderson and her husband Jeremy, Michelle Walshe and her husband Broderic, and LeeAnne Andrew; her great-grandchildren, Raelynn Andrew, Gabriel Henderson, Elijah Henderson, Jeremiah Henderson, and Olivia Henderson; her sister, Beverly Whithorn of North Reading; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents, Edith was also predeceased by her siblings, Robert Otis, Lillian Otis, Doris Parker, Grace Berryhill, Eva Kirkland, and Florence McNeely.
A graveside service will be held on Monday at 1:30 pm at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA. Then we will have a celebration of life memorial service on October 31st at 2pm at the Hyde Park Baptist Church in New York.
