Edmund Thomas McHugh, Sr., 65, a 30 year resident of Hopewell Junction and formerly of Brooklyn, died on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Westchester Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn on March 12, 1946, Tom was the son of Denis J. and Margaret Lynch McHugh. He was presently employed as the Building Inspector for the Town of Beekman and previously worked as the Assistant Building Inspector for the Town of East Fishkill and in the Finance Department at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Tom was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction and enjoyed fishing, hunting and woodworking.
On June 20, 1992 in Carmel, Tom married Maureen Durkin who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Edmund Thomas McHugh, Jr. of Hopewell Junction and Mary Beth Neils and her husband Joe of Hopewell Junction; his stepson, Frank Modder and his wife Jodi of Albany; his grandsons, Tommy, Sean and Kevin McHugh, Joey and Mikey Neils; his siblings and their spouses, John and Kathleen McHugh of Hopewell Junction, Margaret and Frank Lloyd of North Salem, Arlene and Walter Pehrsson of Bethpage, Maureen and Richard Dooner of Brewster, Mary and Robert DePouli of Stormville; his sister-in-law, Bernadette McHugh of Brooklyn; his mother-in-law, Anna Durkin and his sister-in-law, Ann Durkin, both of Pomona; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Denis McHugh.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
