Edward T. Blaikie, 57, an area resident since 1996 and formerly of Yonkers, died on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Yonkers on June 25, 1958, he was the son of Stuart and Florence Barry Blaikie, whom are predeceased. Edward was employed as a butcher at Pathmark in Yonkers for 32 years until his retirement in 2014. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and Giants, but more than anything, he loved the Lord. He had a heart of gold and was a family man who loved his family unconditionally and always went to great lengths to love and support them. Edward was also an amazing grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren.

On May 31, 1980 in Yonkers, Edward married Jo-ann De-Julio who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Jason Vargas of Yonkers, Diana Aguilar and her husband Adrian of Wappingers Falls, and Shannon Blaikie of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Jason Vargas Jr., Jaelen Vargas, Anthony and Jonathan Aguilar; a great-grandson, Jaden Fernandez ; his sisters, Kathleen Smith of Wappingers Falls, Linda Gurreri of Millbrook, Diane Mee of Pompton Plains, NJ and Teresa Estremera of Millbrook; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The service will be held on Wednesday at 11am at the funeral home.
