Edward Joseph Callahan, 73, of India-Atlantic, FL and formerly of Hopewell Junction, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011.
Born in New York City on May 22, 1938, he was the son of the late Patrick and Helen Shinnick Callahan. Edward was raised in Inwood.
Edward was an avid reader. He worked as a bartender at many bars in New York City including the Blarney Rock, Pig and Whistle, and Chambers.
Edward is survived by his children, Helene Thompson of India-Atlantic, FL, Jeanne Callahan of Long Beach, NY, Elizabeth Downes of Moreshead, NJ, and Kristen, Bryan, and Kevin Callahan, all of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren Amanda Peterson, Katelyn Peterson, and Logan Dobkowski; and his brother, Robert Callahan of Patchogue. He was predeceased by his son, Michael Edward Callahan on August 6, 2010.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 5p.m. at the funeral home.
