Edward J. Goldstein, a longtime resident of the Hudson Valley, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 84.

Son of the late Harold A. and Lily (Friedland) Goldstein, he was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 4, 1939. He was raised in Far Rockaway, NY. In 1967, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged from active service as Specialist 4th Class in 1968. Ed continued his service in the U.S. Army Reserves until 1973.

He began his career as a teacher. Many years later, Edward became a real estate broker and worked for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services (formerly Prudential SERLS). Ed was a lifelong fitness enthusiast. He was an avid swimmer and in his younger years competed as a bodybuilder. He enjoyed taking day trips with family & friends to New York City, eating great food, and drinking martinis. He also loved listening to music.

He was incredibly enthusiastic about life and will be remembered for his friendly and outgoing spirit. Ed was a loving, kind, and supportive husband, father, stepfather, and grandfather.

In 1982, he met Charlene "Lynn" Cortesi and the couple were married several years later. After nearly 30 years of marriage, Lynn predeceased Edward in 2016.

Survivors include his daughter, Victoria Goldstein; his son, Andrew Goldstein; his stepdaughter, Amanda Knight; his stepdaughter, Michelle Shook & her husband Donald; his grandchildren, Dylan, Gabrielle, Lauren, and Evan; and many other relatives & friends.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be conducted at 12:30pm on Friday, July 26 at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
