Edward A. Henstebeck, 67, a lifelong area resident, died on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born on August 18, 1944 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Anna Bayen Henstebeck of FL and the late Edward D. Henstebeck. He was employed as a Senior Systems Analyst for IBM for 31 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and managed IBM A League Division Men's fastpitch softball and football teams. In 2010, he was inducted into the Dutchess County Sports Museum Hall of Fame. He also assisted the management team for the Little Brauhaus Brewers Men's Fast Pitch Softball Team in Poughkeepsie. He was a life member of the New Hackensack Fire Department and a member of the Hudson River Maritime Museum, BPOE #2609 in Wappingers Falls and the Moose Lodge in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Ed was in the first class to attend Our Lady of Lourdes High School when it opened in Poughkeepsie in 1958, and was passionate to work with his mates, locating and gathering input from all but two original classmates, to hold a First 50th Class Reunion for the Class of 1962. After years of diligent work, the reunion will be held next August, 2012. Ed was also a graduate of Marist College.
On November 21, 1964 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, Edward married Katherine Holt who survives at home. In addition to his wife and mother, he is also survived by his children and their spouses, Edward and Andrea Henstebeck of Pine Bush and Valerie and Wayne Frost of VA; his brothers, Robert, William, Steven and Michael; four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, October 15 from 10 to 11 am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will follow at 11 am at the funeral home with Rev. Joshua Stewart officiating.
