Obituary

POUGHKEEPSIE - Edward Henry McCabe, formerly of the Bronx and Yorktown, died on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 16, 1933 in the Bronx to Mary (Sheehan) and Edward McCabe, Sr. On February 11, 1956 in the Bronx, he married Anne Roche who survives at home.

Ed served honorably as LTJG in the US Navy from December 1954 to May 1958. With a BACE from Cooper Union and a MACE from NYU, Ed worked for the County of Westchester for over 37 years retiring from the role of Commissioner of Public Works in 1990.

He was a beloved and devoted husband for 57 years to his wife, Anne; a loving father to Kathy Paladino, Tom McCabe, Ellen Donohue, Elizabeth Romeo and the late Peggy; and an adored grandfather to 12. Ed was also a brother, father- in-law and uncle to countless, and will be greatly missed by all.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 am at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie followed by interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Greenburgh with military honors.
