Edward Aloysius McHugh, 80, a resident of Wappingers Falls since 1999 and formerly of Ossining, died on Monday, August 5, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Ballintra, County Donegal, Ireland on June 21, 1933, he was the son of Patrick and Agnes Gallagher McHugh. Edward served in the US Army during the Korean War and was employed by General Motors in Tarrytown for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction.
On June 16, 1962 at St. Theresa's Church in Ossining, Edward married Ann Carron who predeceased him on March 21, 2006. He is survived by his children, Sharon Chiarulli of Fishkill, Sheila Brennen and husband Timothy of Hopewell Junction, Lynn DeLillo and husband Thomas of Niantic, CT and John McHugh and wife Lisa of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Monica Griffin, Joey and Chris Chiarulli, Samantha and Alexis Brennen, Chris and Megan DeLillo, Erin and Melissa McHugh; his sister, Kathleen Crawford of Raws, Castlefin, Ireland; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick James McHugh and his sister, Rita Stead.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
