Edward Slawek, MD, 87, formerly of Scarsdale, died on February 22, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Born on March 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Henry and Sofia (Marchewka) Slawek and served in the US Navy from 1946-1948. Edward had been employed as a Psychiatrist for the County of Rockland, and then later at the VA hospital in Montrose.

On June 6, 1954 at St. Leo’s Church in Irvington, NJ, Edward married Regina Pregnolato Slawek who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Dianne (Joseph) DeSalvo of Mount Pleasant, MI, Cynthia (Thomas) Vasilakos of Upper Saddle River, NJ, and Stephanie Slawek of Hartsdale; and his grandchildren, Daniel and Paul DeSalvo and Alexander and Michael Vasilakos.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, February 28th from 2 to 4 PM with a short service at 3:45 PM, at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
